On 12th of October, 2025, the 67th Annual Meeting of the IAJ started in Baku (Azerbaijan), in the morning, with the sessions of the four Regional Groups.
The Opening Ceremony took place in the afternoon, with the attendance of Mr. Ramiz Rzayev, President of the Azerbaijan Union of Judges, Mr. Inam Karimov, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Chairman of the Judicial-Legal Council, Mr. Farid Ahmadov, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Duro Sessa, President of the International Association of Judges and Mr. Giacomo Oberto, Secretary-General of the International Association of Judges. The Ceremony was opened by a recorded speech of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who delivered an address to the participants. At the end of the opening ceremony, Mr. Oberto presented the IAJ “Judicial Independent Award”.
Until the 17th of October 3 sessions of the Central Council will take place, together with the meetings of the 4 Study Commissions and of the Presidency Committee. On Tuesday, 14th of October, an international conference will focus on the subjects of the Relations between the Judiciary and the other two Powers of the State.
